Mental health care that feels like home

If you’ve never done this before… don’t worry, we’ve got you.

Our fees

Current fees are set lower than the recommended rate by the Australian Psychological Society. Fees for our psychologists differ, and depend on the level of experience and years in practice.

Individual Therapy

  • 50–60 minute sessions
  • Session cost is between $210–$250 per session (psychologist-dependent)
  • Medicare rebates are available with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP
  • Out of pocket costs range from $94.75 – $114.75 per session
  • Depending on the presenting issue and treatment plan, we will advise how many sessions treatment is likely to take at your first session

Couples Therapy

  • 50–60 minute sessions
  • $250 per session
  • Typically 10+ sessions, including at least two individual appointments per person
  • Weekly sessions are recommended to maintain momentum and align with evidence-based practice
  • Not suitable in cases of domestic violence, ongoing infidelity, or significant substance use
  • Unfortunately, there are no Medicare rebates available for couples therapy

Telehealth Appointments

  • 50–60 minute sessions
  • Session cost is between $210–$250 per session (psychologist-dependent)
  • Medicare rebates are available under a valid Mental Health Care Plan
  • Out of pocket costs range from $94.75 – $114.75 per session
  • Generally not recommended for couples therapy

Assessments

  • Fees vary and are determined based on the referral question, what’s needed for the assessment and report requirements
  • For example, the length of assessments, interview time with significant others and psychometric marking all impact assessment length and time
  • We will understand clearly who the report is for and only complete what is needed, which is time-efficient and cost-effective
  • Medicare rebates are available for assessment sessions in which you are with a psychologist
  • Report-writing is charged privately, at an hourly rate

Clinical Supervision

  • For psychologists completing an accredited training pathway to general registration
  • For clinical psychology registrars
  • For all other psychologists
  • Supervision completed with senior clinical psychologists, all Board-Approved Supervisors
  • Rates differs between supervisors – please contact us to learn more

  • Sessions allocated depends on clinical severity and diagnosis
  • Same rebate rates as per MHCP

Other rebates & Funding

  • Private health funds – rebates differ depending on your insurer (e.g. Teachers Health)
  • NDIS (plan and self-managed) – we do not charge gap fees to NDIS participants
  • WorkCover
  • TAC
  • VOCAT
  • EAP – sometimes employers will pay for your sessions as part of an EAP arrangement

Depending on the provider, a gap fee may still apply.

Cancellation policy

When you make an appointment with a psychologist, that time has been reserved for you, and psychologists do considerable preparation and planning for your appointment.

While sometimes things happen in life that mean cancelling or rescheduling is needed, doing so at late notice impacts a psychologist’s ability to see other clients, especially people who are on the waiting list.

Unlike other professionals, such as doctors, who offer shorter medical appointment times, psychologists are unable to fill the time allocated for you at short notice with other work.

Given this, Perennial Psychology has a 48-hour cancellation/rescheduling policy:

  • Cancellation between 24–48 hours’ notice will attract a 50% cancellation fee
  • Cancellation under 24 hours’ notice or no shows will attract the full fee
  • Please note: Medicare and insurers don’t cover missed or cancelled appointments

Psychology FAQs

Have a question? Take a look below… these are some of the common questions we get.

No referral is needed to book a session, but if you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you might be eligible for Medicare rebates.

Yep, life happens! Just give us at least 48 hours’ notice so we can offer that spot to someone else. Cancellations within 48 hours will incur a fee.

We don’t usually offer instalment plans, but if money’s tight, chat with us privately – we’re happy to see how we can find a solution.

The Medicare rebates are listed above, but if you on WorkCover, TAC or VOCAT the gap fees tend to be lower. With private insurance, we find they tend to be on-par with Medicare rebates. We can help you understand what’s covered and what your gap fee will be – just ask us when booking.

No worries! You can book on their behalf, just make sure you have their consent and relevant details to help our intake process.
